This lithographic poster was designed to promote an exhibition of lithographs by Modern Masters (contemporary at the time) at the Chateau de Goutelas in 1966.
The Chateau, which had been closed and abandoned, was resurrected and turned into a cultural center for the region. Under the motivation of an attorney from Lyon, Paul Bouchet, many peasants, workers and intellectuals volunteered to restore the walls over a period of ten years. Many artists such as Bernard Cathelin, Duke Ellington and the Mime Marceau became associated with the resurgence of Goutelas. Several law association quickly organized seminars and conferences in this beautiful site west of the city of Lyon, France.
This poster represents an earlier famous original lithograph by Pablo Picasso, "The Peace Dove". It was reproduced by Mourlot Master Printer, Henri Deschamps under the supervision of Picasso himself, but because it is not a poster for an exclusive Picasso exhibition, it was not referenced in the Czwiklitzer catalog.
