After meeting Sonia Delaunay, he became interested in abstract art and eventually settled in the French capital in 1946. There, he resumed painting and made his first nonfigurative works in 1947 with black signs in heavy brushstrokes on a light background. He still lives in Paris and exhibits regularly.
