This poster is a restrike of the original lithograph from 1935 printed by Draeger Freres, Paris. The subject is Doves flying in front of the Arc de Triomphe du Carousel and in the distance the Obelisk and the Arc de Triomphe. This poster was originally designed by Cassandre to promote travel to Paris.
Cassandre's inventive graphic techniques show influences of Surrealism and Cubism. His work became very popular in Europe and the U.S. during the 1930s. His creations for the Dubonnet wine company were among the first posters designed to be seen by occupants in moving vehicles.
