Celia Rogge’s latest show is centered around Enfilades — Views of doorways through doorways. Enfilades have always served as an architectural fascination for her.
However, they are not the only way to be drawn into the spectacular interiors of which she is taking the image.
They also represent the possibilities of forward motion, ever entering into the what is next — Portals taking you into the subsequent chapter in life… into a new story line.
Celia Rogge’s work is fundamentally influenced by living between two diverging cultures, continents, architecture and languages. While her self-proclaimed motto is “Always Look Up...” this is meant firstly in a figurative way but by her own definition also meant in a spiritual way. She is inspired by the notion of discovery through reflections and a passion for symmetry and linear structure. Her architectural works of New York City, London and Berlin Reflections invite the viewer to a new perspective on the clear lines of these metropolises. This zest for linear structure, order and the vanishing point are continued in her images of grand interiors throughout Europe, the United States and Australia. In her daylight infrared photography common vistas are filtered through the transformative power of light. Capturing this different frequency of light she discovers the emotional in the unemotional. Her vistas are elevated to a higher spiritual beauty.
