These large and impressive new editions by Richard Lilley are statements of boldness and energy that are reflective of the artist himself. Lilley worked with the world renowned Lower East Side printshop to create these beautiful and powerful "portraits" of flowers that are essentially an ode to joy and nature. Every proof is printed by hand on heavy Legion Coventry paper with great craftsmanship and care. The 8 editions of the "Poppies", "Rose", "Tulip" and "Lily" are each numbered out of 50 and hand signed by the artist.
Rich Lilley, a New York based artist began his practice in Pennsylvania in the theater program and studied art with Milan Melicharek before moving to New York City to continue his education at Parsons.
It was here that Lilley studied under Mohammed Omar Khalil and Luther Davis with a primary focus in metal etching and printmaking. Drawing inspiration from J.R Crumb, Paul Nobel and Mad Magazine, Lilley has spent the last ten years creating intricate and illusionary drawings and paintings that capture and transcend life forms.
